By way of background, opening thoughts:  Some say we drink our wines to early. And then there are those who buy and store their fine Bordeaux wines to share with us in the future. "Drinking a 1958 Chateau Haut-Brion in 2012, all would agree that it is about time to open the bottle and share.

Original tasting and review : This is Chateau Haut-Brion, Pessac-Leognan, Graves, Bordeaux, France, 1958.

In the glass:  The wine was bright and clear in the glass.

On the nose: There was a sense of relative freshness on the nose with some dried fruits, spice and a touch of minerality and some vanilla from the oak barrel.

On the palate:  It was smooth, medium bodied with all the aromas now forming an elegant tasting on the palate. This elegance followed through in the finish and a long one at that.

In summary:  If you are offered the rare opportunity to try or to buy a properly stored 1958 Chateau Haut-Brion, it is an opportunity not to have pass you by.
