By way of background, opening thoughts: This 2007 Tuscany-based blend of 30% cabernet sauvignon and 70% sangiovese achieved the 36th spot on Wine Spectator's Top 100 list for 2011.  Let's see what we find...

Original tasting and review , June, 2012: This is Terrabianca Campaccio, Toscana (Tuscany), Italy, 2007, finished at 13.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep burgundy, moving to opaque in the middle.

On the nose: Poured cool and swirled vigorously, shows a bold, inky nose, full of jet black purple fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be rich and potent, delivering much more extract than suggested by its modest alcohol level.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact a soft, luxurious, velvet finish in the mouth, with gentle velvet fruit - quite light - filling the palate.  A soft, bright blueberry hue finishes the sip and brings some acids taut into your cheeks.  A brighter, redder finish than suggested  by the oaky and deep elements of the nose.

In summary: Overall, rates three full stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Ready to drink now at five years since vintage date.

Following long decant, two days kept cool in partially filled bottle:  Softer, candied fruit on the nose. Consistent palate with a firm acid-toned finish.

Updated review, now eight years from vintage date, January, 2015:  Same dark burgundy color.  Nose shows a softer side.  Palate brings bright red fruit and some darker charcoal elements.  Still very sound, but ready to drink up.
