By way of background, opening thoughts: OK, this is a 12-year-old white burgundy that has been tucked in  my wine cellar for years - perhaps too long.  Let's see what we've got.

Original tasting and review : This is Domaine Gerard Chavy & Fils Puligny-Montrachet White Burgundy,Cote-D'Or, France, 2000 finished at 13.% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep honey with an overtone of orange.

On the nose: Poured cool and swirled vigorously, shows soft hay and dry butterscotch blend.  From the aroma, seems like this will be oily, well-aged, perhaps tired.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact somewhat bright, honeyed mineral oil with light fruit and the merest hint of acid.  Too ponderous for me to return to, but an intriguing experience.

In summary: Overall, rates two stars with a plus for depth on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
