By way of background, opening thoughts: OK, I finally gave in to try this:  wine plus dutch chocolate.  Not sure I should be reviewing it like a wine, but I'll "take one for the team".

Original tasting and review : This is Europa ChocoVine Chocolate & Wine, Holland, non-vintage, finished at 14% alcohol.  Also includes cream and artificial colors.

In the glass: Opaque, light olive and brown color.  Obviously the artificial colors don't help much.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows chocolate cream and alcohol aromatics.   From the aroma, seems like this will be sweet and alcohol-laden.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact deep chocolate, solid backing alcohol and creamy milk chocolate.  No wine visible anywhere in the mix. Think more along the lines of Godiva Chocolate Liqueur rather than wine plus chocolate.

In summary: Overall, rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, simply because it is delicious.  It is not wine however.  But it is a luscious, cheap thrill.
