Original tasting and review : This is Spiral Wines Red, California, 2011, finished at 13.9% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep muddy red.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows fruity, round, red fruit with hints of darkness.  From the aroma, seems like this will be friendly, fruity and perhaps a bit generic.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much as anticipated, though softer, sleeker and fuller than anticipated.  A comfortable red sip.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making this a best value at its "practically free" price.
