By way of background, opening thoughts: Trader Joe's sometimes creates interesting offerings.  Today, we are sampling a red wine blend mostly - though not necessarily exclusively - available through Trader Joe outlets. More widely available commercially in British Columbia. The mix of grapes is not divulged for this North Coast offering.

Original tasting and review : This is
Tribunal Red Wine, North Coast, California, 2011, finished at a hefty 15.1% alcohol.

In the glass: Medium deep magenta.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows fresh, deep, purple fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be sweet, soft, big, red and black together.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact soft violets with a creamy surround of darker tannins.  Very big, very sedate, seductive and mature.  Don't confuse that with old.  There is freshness and deep fruit aplenty.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a big plus for its big, well-poised presence.  Big-time best value at its bargain Trader Joe's price point.  And still a nice experience and good value at the higher British Columbia pricing level.
