By way of background, opening thoughts: I really liked the Columbia Crest Horse Heaven Hills Merlot.  Today we'll try the red blend from the same vineyards, called Les Chevaux.

Original tasting and review : This is Columbia Crest Horse Heaven Hills Les Chevaux Red Wine, Washington, 2010, finished at 14.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Medium dusty dark red.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows deep black fruit and bright aromatics.  From the aroma, seems like this will be fragrant on the palate, with punch.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact a mouth-filling gob of structured black and red fruits, ripe and rich with blackberries, pomegranates, blueberry and clear elements of milk chocolate.  The finish is full, structured, clean and lasting.  I would stick with this one for an evening.

In summary: Overall, rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making it an easy best value, just like its sister merlot.
