Original tasting and review : This is Concannon Glen Ellen Reserve Chardonnay, California, 2011, finished at 13.% alcohol.  It comes in at a "practically free" price point.

In the glass: Clear to light vanilla in the glass.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature (warmer than preferred) and swirled vigorously, shows soft fruit with light citrus.  From the aroma, seems like this will be potentially balanced and lightly layered.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much as anticipated, with gentle layers of soft but mineral-tinged fruits, including peach, ripe apricot and pear, laced with the gentlest hint of oak.  Finish grows bright, then sweet, then clean.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, with a plus for these subtle layers, making this an easy best value at its bargain price point.
