Original tasting and review : This is Avalon Cabernet Sauvignon, California, 2010, finished at 13.8% alcohol.

In the glass: Medium deep red with hints of burgundy.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows soft berry and bright plum fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be easy-going, bright, spirit but perhaps simple.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact broader and somewhat more deeply aromatic than anticipated, with a bit of cleansing tannins.  Quite bright in nature as anticipated.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.   It is a best value at its price point.
