Original tasting and review : This is Beringer Founders' Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, California, 2010, finished at 13.9% alcohol.  It is a bargain label in the broad Beringer line.

In the glass: Dusty deep red.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows bright red fruity plums.  From the aroma, seems like this will be friendly and bright, very un-cabernet-like.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much as anticipated on the flavor side, but showing more structure and depth in the mouthfeel.  The lightness and plumy brightness in the sides of your cheeks are complemented with a hint of tannins and depth.  But just a hint.

In summary: Overall, rates two stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, but shows a plus for its brave efforts to master balance.
