By way of background, opening thoughts: Don't you just hate red blends that give you no idea on the label what varietals comprise them?  Me too.  Nonetheless, I will still try them.

Original tasting and review : This is Cupcake Vineyards Red Velvet Red Wine, California, 2011, finished at 13.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Medium red, hints of orange at the rim.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows unique, deep aromatic blend of black fruits.  From the aroma, seems like this will be succulent and robust.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact soft, furry, full, with creamy red fruits on the attack, and sweet yet clean robed finish.  Solid finish with spices and deep vanilla.

In summary: Overall, rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making this an awesome best value at its bargain price point.
