Review: ***+ $ HandCraft Cabernet Sauvignon, California, 2010 = BEST VALUE

Original tasting and review : This is HandCraft Cabernet Sauvignon, California, 2010, finished at a big 14.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep magenta red with some brick overtones. Dusty and opaque in the center.

On the nose: Poured at  room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows bold purple fruit with hints of eucalyptus.  From the aroma, seems like this will be bright, bold and alcoholic.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact luscious bright red and purple berries, with red cherries and fresh boysenberry for miles!  Strong, liquer-like essence holds the fruit in your cheeks.  You know the high alcohol is there, doing its work, but it keeps in the background behind the big, blooming fruit.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with an easy a big plus for controlled power on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making this a no-brainer best value!
