Original tasting and review : This is Ojai Vineyard Pinot Noir, Fe Ciega Vineyard, Sta (Santa) Rita Hills, California, 2009, finished at 14.3% alcohol.

In the glass: Medium deep dusty red.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows classic bright cherries and strawberry aroma with elements of loam and clay.  From the aroma, seems like this will be fruity, but with rich chalky residue.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much as anticipated by the nose, but with a rich red raspberry element included. Intensely bright, but nicely layered as well.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Gains a plus not so much for its ease or pleasantness, but because of the integration of some widely disparate personalities.
