By way of background:
Ave Malbec hails from the well-regarded area of Mendoza, Argentina, popularly-speaking the malbec capital of the world. It has been developed by Alberto Antonini in an Italian tradition at the Perdriel Estate. I gave the 2007 vintage three and a half stars.

Original tasting and review : This is Proyecto Mas Ave Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina, 2009, finished at 14.2% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep bold magenta, opaque in the center.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows funky, layered, mostly-black fruit with some solid oak.   From the aroma, seems like this will be friendly but layered.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact intriguingly aromatic, with waves of sweet black fruit and red liqueur streaks.  Firm oak supporting the fruit, but not overpowering.  Nice balance now and in an excellent drinking window of time.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with a big plus for balance and pleasure on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Good value.
