By way of background, opening thoughts: I sampled the 2004 vintage of this California petite sirah and gave it three stars.  Today, we will sample the 2005 vintage with eight years of aging since vintage date.

Original tasting and review : This is Concannon Petite Sirah Limited Release, Livermore Valley, Central Coast, California, 2005, finished at 13.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep dusty red.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows soft, deep, well integrated deep red berries.  From the aroma, seems like this will be full and balanced.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much as anticipated; a well-knit, lightly-oaked, deep red berry presence.  Finish holds fast, with tannins moving slightly into your cheeks.

In summary: Overall, rates a solid three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Holds its age very well.
