By way of background, opening thoughts: I enjoyed the 2004 vintage of this tasted at four and eight years from vintage date.  Today, we will sample the 2005 vintage at eight years.

Original tasting and review : This is  Festivo Malbec, Valle de Uco, Mendoza, Argentina, 2005, finished at 14.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep purple magenta, opaque from a half inch in.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows bold red fruit, just slightly overripe, but still bright.   From the aroma, seems like this will be lightly oxidized, but fruity and big.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact big and bold with very ripe muddled fruit, including blueberry and bright red currants.  Full, fresh, tingles your cheeks on the finish.

In summary: Overall, rates an enjoyable three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
