By way of background, opening thoughts: We sampled the grenache varietal from this winery a few years back and awarded three stars.  Today, we are trying the tempranillo, with a whopping age of eight years from vintage date.

Original tasting and review : This is Marco Real Tempranillo, Navarra, Spain, 2005, finished at 14% alcohol.

In the glass: Dusty dark magenta with brick at the edge. Opaque in the center.

On the nose: Poured at  room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows oxidized bold fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this is well past its prime, where it was likely big and black red fruity.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact showing some broccoli elements associated with too much time in the bottle.  Bright fruit with very dark edges around the vegetative core.

In summary: Clearly meant for less time in bottle.  No rating because of its condition.
