By way of background, opening thoughts: Yeah!  Time for Barossa shiraz - Australia's most rustic!

Original tasting and review : This is Thorn-Clarke Terra-Barossa Estate Grown Shiraz, Barossa, Australia, 2006, finished at 14% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep bloody, dusty magenta, opaque from 3/4 inch in from the edge.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows soft, deep, warm cedar fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be full, sweet, long, classic for the region.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact as expected, with bigger cedar aromatics on the tongue and a brighter, lengthy finish.  Full, pleasing and still refreshingly young at seven years since vintage date.

In summary: Overall, rates three plus stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making this a clear best value at its bargain price point.
