Original tasting and review : This is Terre di Ginestra Catarratto, Calatrasi, Sicily, Italy, 2006, finished at 13.5% alcohol, first sampled at seven years of age.
In the glass: Bright, almost fluorescent deep yellow.
On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows deep and full sleek white juice, reminiscent of stainless steel chardonnay. From the aroma, seems like this will be sleek and intriguing.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact extraordinarily sleek with a core of light sugar. Clean palate, nice, crisp sugar, very light acids. Remarkably, shows little of its seven years of age.
In summary: Overall, rates three stars with a big plus for longevity and balance on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale. Easy best value at its bargain price point.
