Original tasting and review : This is Fife Mendocino Uplands Zinfandel, Mendocino County, California, 1998, finished at 14.3% alcohol, and first sampled at a whopping 15 years from vintage date.

In the glass: Deep mahogany.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows full, deep and fresh fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be lush with elements of pepper and charcoal.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact quite rich, smooth, sweet, langorous and full, with enough residual tannins and acids to give it appropriate lift.  The fruit is rich red in character.

In summary: Overall, rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Awesome longevity.
