Original tasting and review : This is Folie a Deux Zinfandel, Amador County, California, 2005, finished at 14.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep mahogany with hints of brick.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows well-aged deep muddy fruit character.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact friendly sweet red fruits, lighter than anticipated, with a tone of very sweet vivid blackberry.  Still plenty of acidity and verve, despite being eight years from vintage date.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with a plus for liveliness on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
