Original tasting and review : This is J Vineyards & Winery Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, California, 2009, finished at 14.3% alcohol, not at all shy for a chard!

In the glass: Hints of yellow and peach.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows clean and crisp mineral, little fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be taut, but the alcohol level tells me it will yield some bold flavors.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact rich with clarified butter, light sweet butterscotch, and clean peach.  Just the right mix of sleek fruit, acids that tuck high up into your cheeks, and a finish that continues to spit out flavors for a full minute.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with a big plus for complex accessibility on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
