Original tasting and review : This is Qupe SYR Syrah Grenache Mourvedre, Central Coast, California, 2009, a custom bottling for San Ysidro Ranch, Santa Barbara, California, finished at 13.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Deep magenta, opaque in the center.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows bold plum and some dark underbelly.  From the aroma, seems like this will be big but fresh.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact fresh with dark, lush blackberry.  Some residuals tannins, nice acids that hold up the deeper fruit.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  After two days in partially filled bottle under vacuum seal, adds a plus for fruity balance.
