Original tasting and review : This is Beringer Founders' Estate Zinfandel, California, 2009, finished at 14.5% alcohol.

In the glass: Medium ruby and magenta.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows shy and perky purple fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be reserved and tangy, but the alcohol level would seem to belie that hint.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact full, fruity, soft and lush with red fruits.  Sweet red pepper comes on as the immediate fruit settles.  Clean finish, though not long, mostly showing sweet, crisp alcohol.

In summary: Overall, rates an easy three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Best value because of the bargain price point.
