Original tasting and review : This is Meomi Pinot Noir, California, 2012, a blend from Monterey, Santa Barbara and Sonoma counties and finished at 13.8% alcohol, first sampled two years from vintage date, in February, 2014.

Inspired by this wine in September, 2015:  We're mashing up strawberries and chocolate for an incredible mousse.

In the glass: Deep cranberry red.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows funky and deep red nose, but a bit shy.  From the aroma, seems like this will be serious, but perhaps not profound.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much more fragrant, layered and textured than anticipated.  Brings rich blackberry and strawberries and soft, gritty tannins to the mix. Plenty of deep cocoa.  Depth and life.

In summary: Overall, rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making this an easy best value.
