By way of background, opening thoughts: I enjoyed the Clayhouse Adobe Red 2005 vintage when it was quite young.  Today we are trying the next vintage, 2006, but after it has had a full eight years of age.

Original tasting and review : This is Clayhouse Vineyard Adobe Red, Central Coast, 2006, finished at 14.1% alcohol.  It is a blend of 58% zinfandel, 17% syrah, 14% petite sirah and 12% malbec.

In the glass: Light to medium mahogany.

On the nose: Poured at cellar temperature and swirled vigorously, shows tired light red fruit, with hints of broccoli.  From the aroma, seems like this will be past its useful life.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact showing a bit too much age as anticipated; but also bringing fresh and vibrant blousy red flavors behind.  I'm quite kicking myself for have waited so long on this one!

In summary: I cannot offer an appropriate rating because of the age, but I will advise not to cellar for more than a small handful of years.
