Original tasting and review : This is Banfi Chianti Classico, Italy, 2005, finished at a mere 12.5% alcohol, and sampled a full nine years from vintage date.

In the glass: Deep ruby red.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows soft yet taut bright purple fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be younger-tasting than its years suggest.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact balanced and layered red fruit with gobs of juicy acids yet a full, fresh fruit undergirding.  Finish is fresh as laundry hanging on the line.  Does not show a hint of its age.

In summary: Overall, rates an eash three stars and almost touches a plus for its long-lived bright nature on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Solid value.
