Original tasting and review : This is MacMurray Pinot Noir, Central Coast, California, 2012, finished at 14.8% alcohol.

In the glass: Medium, bright pink-red in the glass.

On the nose: Poured at cellar temperature and swirled vigorously, shows fairly bright, classic pinot aromas.  From the aroma, seems like this will be bold with perhaps some smoky elements.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact quite flavorful and chewy, showing blackberry extract and red cherries on a base of full-fledged tannins and alcohol.  You buckle into your seat with the fruit, accelerate with the alcohol and coast for a good long time.

In summary: Overall, the flavorful nature of this pinot noir brings it to an easy three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  I'd come back to it in a heartbeat.
