Original tasting and review : This is Celler de Capcanes Mas Donis Barrica Old Vines, Montsant, Spain, 2010, finished at 14% alcohol and first sampled four years from vintage date, in July, 2014.  This is a blend of 85% grenache and 15% syrah, aged in a mix of French and American oak for nine months.

In the glass: Deep burgundy, opaque in the center.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows bold, rich blackberry fruit, with some blue ink.  From the aroma, seems like this will be mo
uth filling and rushing into your nose.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact soft, funky, light blackberry fruit, with soft tannins and light acids.  Creates an easy-going, light and bright dry summer sip, with soft but intriguing old world elements.  Clean finish.

In summary: Overall, totally pleasant experience rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
