Review: *** $ Nicola's Redmark Red Wine, Columbia Valley, Washington, non-vintage = BEST VALUE

Original tasting and review : This is Nicola's Redmark Red Wine, Columbia Valley, Washington, non-vintage, finished at 13.7% alcohol.  It is a predominantly merlot blend.

In the glass: Medium/deep dusty red.

On the nose: Poured at warmish room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows bright and fragrant merlot-like fruit, with just a hint of pleasant funk and rubber balloon.  Seems like this will be fun and aromatic.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact balanced and subtle, showing a nice sleekness and mineral-red style on the tongue.  The sleekness carries through a moderate length into a perfectly clean finish.  Merlot-style aromas follow the sip to its light, slightly acid-toned finish, bringing along soft elements of cinnamon spice.

In summary: Overall, rates an easy three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making it a best value at its bargain price.  Almost reaches a plus because of the soft spices.  The sleekness suggests a little more time in the bottle would not be a problem.
