Review: ***+ $ Nicola's Redmark White Wine, Columbia Valley, Washington, 2009 = BEST VALUE

Original tasting and review : This is Nicola's Redmark White Wine, Columbia Valley, Washington, 2009, finished at 12.8% alcohol.  It is a blend of chardonnay and riesling.

In the glass: Light with hints of olive yellow.

On the nose: Poured at too-warm room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows sweet grasses and restrained fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be balanced and easy-going.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact showing a nice balance of soft fruit, bringing pears and gentle hints of crisp butterscotch, with bright, sweet acids that cleanse your cheeks.  The sip eases away gently, though, leaving more a faint clean crisp sugar hint, rather than any notable acids.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with a plus for friendliness on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Great value at a bargain price.  Built for drinking up now, rather than putting into the cellar.
