Original tasting and review : This is Saint Clair Pinot Noir, Marlborough, New Zealand, 2007, finished at 13% alcohol and first sampled seven years from vintage date, in July, 2014.

In the glass: Light to medium red and orange.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows deep, slightly funky (good way) red and black fruits.  From the aroma, seems like this will be serious yet friendly both.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much as anticipated.  A tiny bit of charcoal styling deepens the friendly spices and red fruit.  Solid acids on the palate, with a clean finish.  Held up well to age.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
