By way of background, opening thoughts: Today we'll sample a couple of Marlborough, New Zealand, pinot noirs.  The first one, from Sherwood Estate, is one that I enjoyed from a slightly earlier vintage, 2008.

Original tasting and review : This is Sherwood Estate Pinot Noir, Marlborough, New Zealand, 2009, finished at 13% alcohol and first sampled five years from vintage date, in 2014.

In the glass: Light red to orange.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows boisterous and fun red muddled fruits.  From the aroma, seems like this will be tangy and sweet, round.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact soft red fruits, with light cinnamon.  Fresh on the palate and fresh on the finish.  You detect an element of clean sugar sweetness as the finish unfolds, but nothing unseemly or cloying.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
