By way of background, opening thoughts: This is the second Loire, France, wine I am sampling today, another cabernet franc with light alcohol levels.  This one is from Saumur Champigny region.

Original tasting and review : This is Val de Loire Reserve des Vignerons, Saumur Champigny, LoireChinon, France, 2012, finished at 12.5% alcohol and first sampled a mere two years from vintage date, in July, 2014.

In the glass: Medium magenta/mahogany.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows soft deep red with diced green pepper.  From the aroma, seems like this will be fuller than its light alcohol level suggests.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact bright but full red currant-style fruits, bringing full acids into your cheeks as the sip sets in your mouth.  Bright, aromatic but balanced.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
