Review: ***+ $$ Waterbrook Syrah, Columbia Valley, Washington, 2011 = GOOD VALUE

Original tasting and review : This is Waterbrook Syrah, Columbia Valley, Washington, 2011, finished at 13.5% alcohol and first sampled three years from vintage date, in July, 2014.

In the glass: Deep magenta, opaque from about three-quarters inch in.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows deep, broad lavender and laundry with rich fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be full and fleshy, aromatic.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact flowing and generous with purple and lavender flavors across your palate, sweeping your tongue and cheeks with friendly, lightly sweet, lightly scented and lightly spices medium weight fruit.  Not a long finish, but impeccably clean.  Just enough acidity to make you thirsty for more.

In summary: Overall, rates and easy three plus stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale. Good value.
