Review: ***+ $ Angeline Pinot Noir, California, 2013 = BEST VALUE

Original tasting and review : This is Angeline Pinot Noir, California, 2013, finished at 13.5% alcohol and first sampled just one year from vintage date, in August, 2014.

In the glass: Deep ruby red with pink highlights.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows deep, lightly oaky and charry fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be bold, friendly but still assertive.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact quite rounded in flavor profile, with blackberry, black cherry, some pomegranate, all in a mouth-filling style.  Acids and tannins clench the cheeks to bring on your next sip.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with a big plus on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Awesome best value at the attractive price point; even more so for pinot noir.
