Review: ***+ $ Presswork Grenache, McLaren Vale, Australia, 2012 = BEST VALUE

Check out today's pricing and retail availability for bargain McLaren Vale grenache.

Original tasting and review : This is Presswork Grenache, McLaren Vale, Australia, 2012, finished at 14.8% alcohol, unoaked, and first sampled a mere two years from vintage date, in August, 2014.

In the glass: Ruby/black cherry.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows very shy fruit, perhaps a hint of light raspberry.  From the aroma, seems like this will be all light fruit.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact much more robustly fruited, think bold, candied red raspberries spiced with light dustings of mint and lavender.  Full on the palate (perhaps because of the big alcohol), but gentle and delicate on the taste buds.  Clean, fresh finish of red berries.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with a big plus on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making this an awesome best value at its bargain price.
