Original tasting and review : This is The Curator Red, Coastal Region, South Africa, 2011, finished at 13.5% alcohol and first sampled three years from vintage date, in September, 2014.  This is a blend of mostly shiraz, 95%, with whispers of cinsault, mourvedre and viognier.

In the glass: Deep muddy mahogany, surprising hints of brick at the edge.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows layered, lightly aged red and black fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be soft and easy, perhaps bright.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact a clean and bright, but fairly generic red and black fruit blend.  Moves to a quick bright finish.

In summary: Overall, rates two stars with a big plus on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
