By way of background, opening thoughts: I've really enjoyed the Nugan Riverina reds from Australia; today we're sampling the first white.

Original tasting and review : This is Nugan Estate Vision Chardonnay, Riverina, Australia, 2007, finished at 14% alcohol and first sampled seven years from vintage date, in September, 2014.

In the glass: Bold yellow with olive glints.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows soft oak with some lightly funky bright fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be layered and fun.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact showing lots of clean oak, but nicely integrated with fresh, crispy pear and apple juices.  The funkiness adds a certain element of smoke, nicely curling here and there in the sip.  Impeccably clean finish.

In summary: Overall, rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Best value.
