Original tasting and review : This is Spice Route Sauvignon Blanc, Darling, South Africa, 2011, finished at 14% alcohol and first sampled three years from vintage date, in September, 2014.

In the glass: Medium yellow.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows clean crispness, underlying fruit with supporting stainless steel.  From the aroma, seems like this will be balanced between fruit and stoniness.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact sleek and clean, fresh with crisp melon fruit sprinkled with a good blast of lemon juice.  The sweet fruit fades fast and the lemon crispness holds court in your cheeks for a full minute.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale and is a best value.

Updated review, nine months later, now four years from vintage date, May, 2015:  Consistent notes, but the acids have settled in, leaving this as a nicely balanced sauvignon blanc.   Still a best value.
