Review: ***+ $$ Sanderson Ranch Merlot, California, 2013 = GOOD VALUE

Original tasting and review : This is Sanderson Ranch Merlot, California, 2013, finished at 13% alcohol and first sampled one year from vintage date, in October, 2014.

In the glass: Light ruby red.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows soft, violet fruit, creamy in style.  From the aroma, seems like this will be easy going and flavorful in its fruit.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact rich and furry fruit that fills your mouth - not sweet, but creamy and purple.  Think grape creamsicle.  Finish shows light acids, some friendly, lingering fruit and little in the way of tannins.  This one wants to be enjoyed young.

In summary: Overall, rates an easy three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale and just manages to garner a plus.  Good value.
