Original tasting and review : This is Bonterra Syrah, Mendocino County, California, 2007, finished at 13.9% alcohol and first sampled seven years from vintage date, in November, 2014.

In the glass: Deep magenta, opaque from an inch in.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows bright, bold, curling purple fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be tangy, perhaps sharp, but potent.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact classically defined old school fruit and some surrounding oak.  Hints of brett which further the old school style.  Some tannins and acids wrap up the modest, husky finish.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.

Following long decant: consistent, soft and bright old school stylings.
