Original tasting and review : This is Gemtree VineyardsTatty Road, McLaren Vale, Australia, 2007, finished at 14.5% alcohol and first sampled seven years from vintage date, in November, 2014.  This is a blend of 40% cabernet sauvignon, 30% petit verdot, 20% cabernet franc and 10% merlot.

In the glass: Thick magenta and brick red, opaque from a half inch in.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows deep, fruity eucalyptus, consistent with McLaren Vale reds, but fairly subtle.  From the aroma, seems like this will be deep, but still lively.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact rich, round, bold, mouth-filling with ripe blackberry fruit, cloves, plums and solid acids and tannin.  Very clean robes of fruit on your mouth, which settle gently.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars and just touch a plus on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, making this an easy best value at the price point.
