Original tasting and review : This is Martin Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County, California, 2005, finished at 14.7% alcohol and first nine sampled years from vintage date, in November, 2014.

In the glass: Deep, bloody magenta, opaque from an inch in.

On the nose: Poured at cool temperature and swirled vigorously, shows vigorous, blood red fruit, including plenty of beets and a hint of age.  From the aroma, seems like this will be fat and bold.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact classically big Sonoma cabernet, with a light hint of age showing as vegetable medley, including hints of broccoli and cauliflower.  The veggies are unfortunate, as the core wine shows a fine grip and power.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale, but was likely stronger when younger.
