Original tasting and review : This is Francois Pinon Cuvee Tradition Vouvray, Loire, France, 2008, finished just slightly sweet at 13% alcohol and first sampled 7 years from vintage date, in January, 2014.

In the glass: Light gold, moving toward butterscotch.

On the nose: Poured at cool room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows both bright lemony grasses on a high pitch and pears and light butterscotch on the low pitch.  From the aroma, seems like this will be complex and full.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact very much in the apple and pear nectar space, showing gobs of sweet fruit with a note of motor oil.  The deep flavors linger, but then are whisked away by a wash of acids that curl into your cheeks and leave tiny sprinkles of lemon drop candiess to fade slowly away.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with an enormous plus on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Good value and remarkable after 7 years!
