Review: ***+ $$ Layer Cake Pinot Noir, Central Coast, California, 2013 = GOOD VALUE

I liked Layer Cake Malbec a few years back, enough to give it a best value rating.  Let's try the pinot noir now!

Original tasting and review : This is Layer Cake Pinot Noir, Central Coast, California, 2013, finished at 14.5% alcohol and first sampled 2 years from vintage date, in April, 2015.

In the glass: Medium deep ruby.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows bright red pinot fruit - classic.  From the aroma, seems like this will be bright and lightly sweet.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact full, silky and round, with plenty of classic red berries and plenty of substantial tannins and acids to keep this all real, and not just a merry-go-round ride of fruit.  Clean, gentle finish.

In summary: Overall, rates three stars with an easy plus on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale,  Good value.
