Original tasting and review : This is Mas de la Deveze Cotes du Roussillon Villages, France, 2007, finished at 14.5% alcohol and first sampled 8 years from vintage date, in April, 2015.
In the glass: Dark magenta, opaque from a half inch in.
On the nose: Poured at cellar temperature and swirled vigorously, shows subtle, funky, cellar-oriented fruit aromas. From the aroma, seems like this will be deep and pungent.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact full of deeply-veined blackberry fruit with plenty of age. Soft, svelte, perhaps just a tad tired. But still showing plenty of purple verve. Purple fruits fade slowly from your cheeks.
In summary: Overall, rates three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
