Finding good value pinot noirs is a tough hunt. With Napa Cellars, I just about found one with the 2009 vintage in 2011. Let's see how we're doing in 2015...
Original tasting and review : This is Napa Cellars Pinot Noir, Napa Valley, California, 2013, finished at 14.5% alcohol and first sampled 2 years from vintage date, in April, 2015.
In the glass: Deep ruby and brick red.
On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows soft red berries, lightly oaked. From the aroma, seems like this will be easy-going.
On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact aromatic and flavorful with medium red berries plus plenty of oak stretching out the mid-palate. Black raspberry with plenty of mouth-cleansing acids. Clean, robust finish.
In summary: Overall, rates an easy three stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.
