Review: ****+ $$$ Tapestry Shiraz, McLaren Vale, Australia, 2004 = GOOD VALUE

Check out today's pricing and retail availability for Tapestry Shiraz.

Original tasting and review : This is Tapestry Shiraz, McLaren Vale, Australia, 2004, finished at 14.5% alcohol and first sampled 11 years from vintage date, in May, 2015.

In the glass: Deep brick burgundy, opaque from a half inch in, but showing definite bricking at the edge.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows the classic McLaren Vale cedar and deep fruit, but with a more seasoned, layered, almost oily finish.  From the aroma, seems like this will be deep, full and still luscious.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact rich, deep and vibrant, showing plenty of full fruit but also plenty of brightness to lift the dark berries.  Full, flush and fragrant.  Lengthy, languishing, clean finish.

In summary: Overall, rates four stars with a plus for exceptional long-lived depth and balance on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale.  Good value and a long-lived pleasure.
