Original tasting and review : This is Trader Joe's Grand Reserve Lot 73 Cabernet Franc, Napa Valley, California, 2013, finished at 14.1% alcohol and first sampled 2 years from vintage date, in July, 2015.

In the glass: Deep magenta, opaque from a quarter inch of the edge.

On the nose: Poured at room temperature and swirled vigorously, shows bright furry black fruit.  From the aroma, seems like this will be classic and perhaps austere.

On the palate: The primary elements on the palate are in fact bold, aromatic, full of menthol and black fruit, with a certain underlying minerality and creaminess.  Impressive.

In summary: Overall, rates four stars on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale for its classic boldness, becoming an easy nod as a best value.
